From lived experience

Why I made the game

I created Witek Adventures after repeatedly encountering accessibility barriers that many people barely notice. Cars blocking pavements are among the most common examples. What looks like a minor parking decision can make a route impossible for someone using a wheelchair.

Booking tickets for concerts and performances can also be frustrating. Ticket sellers often do not provide a clear booking process for people with disabilities, and I sometimes need to send several emails before I can arrange a ticket.

Blocked routes

Cars on pavements can turn an ordinary journey into a search for another way.

Unclear services

Arranging an accessible ticket may require repeated messages and extra time.

Why an adventure game

Interaction changes the perspective

A book or video can explain a situation, but the audience remains outside it. A game asks the player to stop, inspect the problem, consider the available options, and decide what to do next.

That interaction is central to Witek Adventures. The player does not simply watch Witek encounter a barrier. They have to think about how the environment, a service, or another person’s decision affects his ordinary plan.

Life and fiction

How much of Witek is based on me?

Multiple levels were inspired by situations from my life. The Revault verification level, for example, came from difficulties with a mobile app verification process that required using the front camera. This becomes challenging when another person needs to take the photograph for you.

The game adapts real experiences into short fictional scenarios. Witek reflects a particular lived and creative perspective. He does not represent every disabled person or every powered wheelchair user.
